Suffolk County Parks Foundation Hosts Seminar on
“Being an Effective Board Member of a Not-for-Profit Organization”
The Suffolk County Parks Foundation invited all board members of organizations that have agreements or some type of on-going relationships with the Suffolk County Parks Department to attend a special seminar to develop their skills as board members.
The seminar explained the responsibilities that board members have to their organizations and outlined tips on how to improve board recruitment, board meetings and the board/staff relationship.
“Knowledgeable board members translates into better organizations,” says Parks Foundation Director Tom Malanga. “The Suffolk County Parks Department relies heavily on these groups to provide fun and educational programs to the people of Suffolk County, so their success is vital, particularly in this economic climate.”
