The Suffolk County Parks Foundation hosted its first Volunteer Opportunity Expo which featured 17 not-for-profit groups providing information about volunteering for their organization, including: Great South Bay Audubon Society, Seatuck Environmental Association, W.S. Commerdinger Historical Preservation Society, Starflower Experiences, L.I. Radio & TV Historical Society, Long Island Maritime Museum, Farmingville Historical Society, Maritime Explorium at Port Jeff Harbor, Sagtikos Manor Historical Society, Ketcham Inn Foundation, and more:

John J. Fritz Fishing Pier - Thursday, July 21, 2011
A new fishing pier at Smith Point Beach County Park was dedicated to the memory of founding Parks Foundation Board Member John J. Fritz at a ceremony attended by his family & friends, current and former members of the Parks Department and Parks Trustees, and local elected officials.
The Parks Foundation accepted donations towards the purchase of a plaque which was unveiled at the ceremony and will serve as a reminder to all visitors of the important role John Fritz had in creating this pier for the enjoyment of Suffolk's residents.
2011 Earth Day Awards Dinner - Wednesday, April 27, 2011
The Suffolk County Parks Foundation proudly presented our second EARTH DAY AWARDS DINNER on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the Timber Point Country Club in Great River. The evening honored the work and contributions of Ray Corwin, Natasha Alexenko, and TD Bank.

Funds Mark First Time Foundation Donates to Partner Group
West Sayville, NY – On October 12, 2010, the Suffolk County Parks Foundation presented the Sagtikos Manor Historical Society with a check for $500.00 to assist in the restoration of the historic collection at the Manor.
“We’re excited to be able to pitch in restoring the wonderful artifacts that make up Sagtikos Manor’s significant collection,” said Suffolk County Parks Foundation Executive Director Tom Malanga.
“Please accept this donation as a down payment because the Suffolk County Parks Foundation is determined to continue to raise funds to help support your organization’s important work,” Malanga told Christine Gottsch, President of the Sagtikos Manor Historical Society.
